Established in 1995, the Emergency Communications Department combines two former units -
the police 911 and dispatch center and the fire alarm office - into one modern,
high-tech facility.
Emergency Telecommunications Dispatchers staff the Cambridge Emergency
Communications Center where they answer 911 and other emergency phones, monitor
fire box alarms, and maintain round-the-clock radio communications with all police, fire and contract ambulance units
helping field personnel coordinate and manage any possible public safety event or
incident.
George L. Fosque is the Emergency
Communications and 911 Director. He oversees this specialized city department that
not only operates the Cambridge Emergency Communications Center but provides oversight
and technical support of various city communication and public safety
communications functions including radio systems, public safety computers, city
cell phones, and EOC technical support.
Paula M. Snow is the Chief of Emergency Operations and oversees the day-to-day functioning of the
Emergency Communications Center. She manages 6 Communications Supervisors and a
staff of approximately 28 dispatchers and dispatcher trainees.
Ken Pitts is the Public Safety Computer Systems Manager and coordinates
public safety networking and computer system operations in the EC, Police, and
Fire Departments. Public safety operates
dozens of specialized computers on a dedicated and secure network that support
Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD), mobile data, Police and Fire Records
Management, office automation, E-mail, building access control, and much more.
Leslie Carroll is the Training and Administrative Supervisor. She joined the
ECD staff in June of 2007 and has responsibility for training, Emergency
Dispatch and other call review, and special projects.
David Mahoney is the EC Information Systems Specialist. David joined the ECD
in January 2008 and is responsible for tech support and IT projects involving
the EC and Fire departments.
